Hughes has studied traditional martial arts and Eastern philosophy
for over 25 years and has been a professional trainer, martial
arts instructor and wellness coach for the past 10 years. He is

Tai
Chi (Beginner, Intermediate and advanced)
Going through the Tai Chi form
exercises every joint in the entire body. It lowers blood pressure,
improves balance, muscle tone, co-ordination and burns calories
at the same time According to the principles of tai chi, when
your body is stressed; your energy - or "chi" - is blocked.
And that blockage can show up as tight, clenched muscles, mental
anxiety and stiff joints. The movements and breathing of tai chi
will help unblock your energy and encourage it to flow freely
throughout your body thus significantly reducing stress and tension.
Improving the flow of Chi is fundamental in traditional Chinese
medicine.
Guided
Meditation
In this class we will explore
different methods of meditation as practiced by different cultures
around the world. The goal of this class is to aid in the discovery
of the best and most comfortable meditation practice for each
individual. Each class will consist of a guided meditation to
calm the mind and the spirit.
Meditation has been found to have the following physiological
health benefits:

Meditation decreases the metabolic rate and lowers the heart
rate, thus indicating a state of deep rest and regeneration.

Meditation reduces stress which is indicated by lower levels
of stress-hormones such as cortisol.

reduces high blood pressure.
- Meditation
has been found to help asthma patients, making breathing easier
for them.

Meditation seems to slow down the aging process of the brain.
On the psychological level, studies have shown the following
benefits of meditation:

increases the coherence of brain wave patterns in the brain,
which suggests it improves creativity and learning.

BattleFit
(Beginner and Advanced)
BattleFit consists of a series
of body weight exercises designed to strengthen the body from
head to toe. This workout builds strength, speed, power, agility,
balance, flexibility and stamina without the use of any equipment.
BattleFit is a boot camp style workout without the yelling and
can be practiced anywhere at any time. BattleFit has been called
"the ultimate workout" and a "self defense workout"
due to its uniqueness.
CQC Self Defense
Reality based self defense that
works in all situations. CQC is easy to learn and remember, with
no fancy or complicated moves. This class is designed for all
fitness and skill levels and no previous experience is necessary.
We will cover everything from reading your environment to assessing
the threat, to dealing with the physical conflict. Topics covered
include: carjacking, home invasion, protecting loved ones, and
of course protecting self, as well as developing the confidence
to feel safe and secure in all situations.
Kung
Fu (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced)
Learn authentic Shaolin Kung Fu
taught in a traditional way. This is a beginner class for people
who want to improve balance, coordination, flexibility, stamina
and confidence, while learning how to defend themselves. This
class is fun and fast paced while also focusing on the artistic
beauty of traditional Shaolin Kung Fu. If you have ever felt interested
in the moves of Jet Li and Jackie Chan, then this is the class
for you.
Over the past few years David
has been giving workshops and have spoken at various corporate
events on a variety of topics, including leadership, work/life
balance and self-empowerment - Unmasking the Ultimate You. There
has been such great feedback from these speaking engagements that
I now cover them over the duration of my time teaching at individual
workplaces. The individuals are then benefiting from learning
one of my classes as well as having the "workshop topic"
of "The Ultimate You."
